Darwin’s Legacy
Set out on a 15-day voyage through the Galapagos Islands, where nature unfolds in its most raw and fascinating form. Traveling aboard the Evolution Yacht, this expedition takes you across remote volcanic islands, vibrant marine habitats, and wildlife-rich shores. Each day blends exploration on land and sea, from guided walks to snorkeling adventures, offering a dynamic journey through the ecosystems that shaped Darwin’s groundbreaking ideas.

Day by day

Day 1: Baltra Island: Eden for Animals
a.m. Arrive to Baltra Island Airport p.m. Daphne Island or Bahia Borrero Your trip begins with an early flight to Baltra Island. Upon arrival, you will pass through a brief national park inspection before meeting your naturalist guide. A short transfer by bus and dinghy will take you to the yacht. Once onboard, you’ll settle into your cabin and attend an introductory briefing as the vessel begins its route. During the afternoon, explore Bahia Borrero, a calm mangrove-lined inlet where wildlife such as sea turtles, rays, reef sharks, and tropical fish thrive—ideal for a peaceful dinghy ride. As an alternative, you may observe Daphne Minor from a distance, an island known for its importance in long-term evolutionary research on Darwin’s finches. This first day offers a gentle introduction to the archipelago’s ecosystems.
Day 2: Isabela Island & Fernandina Island: The Archipelago’s Newest Work
a.m. Isabela Island: Punta Vicente Roca p.m. Fernandina Island: Punta Espinoza Begin at Punta Vicente Roca, where dramatic volcanic cliffs create protected coves rich in marine biodiversity. A dinghy ride along the coastline reveals seabirds such as blue-footed boobies and flightless cormorants. Snorkeling here provides opportunities to see sea lions, turtles, rays, and a variety of fish. In the afternoon, cross the Bolivar Channel, a well-known area for whale sightings, en route to Fernandina Island. At Punta Espinoza, walk across lava landscapes populated by large colonies of marine iguanas. You may also observe Galapagos penguins and the rare flightless cormorant. The island’s untouched condition and active geology make it one of the most remarkable locations in the Galapagos.
Day 3: Isabela Island: Yellow Dragons and Underwater Pastures
Day 4: Santiago Island: Pinnacle and Lavascapes
Day 5: Santa Cruz Island: The Red Island
Day 6: Santa Cruz Island: Realm of the Tortoise
Day 7: Española Island: The Perfect Beach and Blowhole
Day 8: San Cristobal Island: Darwin’s First Island
Day 9: South Plazas Island: Galapagos Microcosms
Day 10: Santiago Island: Penguins & Grottos
Day 11: Genovesa Island: Island of the Birds
Day 12: North Seymour Island & Santa Fe Island: A Pair of Island Gems
Day 13: Floreana Island: The Baroness & the Devil’s Crown
Day 14: Santa Cruz Island: Kingdom of the Giant Tortoise
Day 15: Santa Cruz Island & Baltra Island: Nature’s Aquarium
