Galapagos Wonders & Wildlife aboard the Hermes Mega Catamaran is a 7-day, 6-night expedition through San Cristobal, Española, Floreana, Santa Cruz, Chinese Hat, and Genovesa, beginning at San Cristobal Airport and concluding with a final panga exploration of Black Turtle Cove before the transfer to Baltra Airport. The journey combines remarkable wildlife encounters with volcanic scenery, conservation experiences, beaches, lagoons, mangroves, nesting colonies, and maritime history, offering opportunities to observe sea lions, marine and land iguanas, Galapagos Giant Tortoises, flamingos, Galapagos Penguins, sea turtles, rays, sharks, frigatebirds, Blue-footed, Red-footed, and Nazca Boobies, and the Waved Albatrosses described in the source. Hiking, snorkeling, swimming, wet and dry landings, and panga excursions provide varied ways to experience the archipelago, while visits to the San Cristobal Interpretation Center, Charles Darwin Research Station, and historic Post Office Bay add cultural, scientific, and conservation perspectives to the journey.

Day by day

Day 1: San Cristobal: History, Wildlife & Tijeretas Views

Upon arrival at San Cristobal Island Airport, your naturalist guide will welcome you and accompany you to the Puerto Baquerizo Moreno pier, where you will board the yacht. In the afternoon, visit the San Cristobal Interpretation Center to explore exhibits focused on the volcanic and natural history of the archipelago and its conservation efforts. Later, hike to Tijeretas Hill for panoramic views of the coastline, Kicker Rock, and the ship anchorage below. Frigatebirds can be observed soaring and nesting around the area, adding an important wildlife experience to the excursion. Beneath the hill, a quiet cove provides an opportunity to swim alongside sea lions and colorful fish, combining natural history, scenic landscapes, hiking, and marine exploration on your first day.

Day 2: Española: Sea Lion Shores & the Wildlife of Suarez Point

Begin with a dry landing at Gardner Bay on Española Island, where a long white beach composed of pulverized coral is shared with large colonies of sea lions. Walk and relax along the shoreline while observing their social behavior before entering the calm, crystalline waters for swimming or snorkeling. The shallow bay offers opportunities to discover colorful marine life and possibly see groups of sharks resting on the sandy bottom. In the afternoon, explore Suarez Point along an extensive two-mile (3.2 km) circular trail beside spectacular lava cliffs. Observe the striking red-and-green marine iguanas referred to in the source as “Christmas Iguanas,” along with hundreds of Nazca Boobies and Blue-footed Boobies performing their distinctive courtship dance. The source also describes Waved Albatrosses performing courtship rituals. The excursion concludes at the blowhole, where high tides can send water dramatically into the air.

Day 3: Floreana: Green Sands, Flamingos & a Legendary Post Office

Day 4: Giant Tortoises & the Conservation Heart of Santa Cruz

Day 5: Dragon Hill & the Turquoise Waters of Chinese Hat

Day 6: Genovesa: Kingdom of the Seabirds

Day 7: Black Turtle Cove: A Peaceful Galapagos Finale
