Carrion Point
The Sunday excursion will start when we move from our meeting location to the Itabaca Channel by bus.
The group will take the Galaxy Daily to Carrion Point to start their expedition.
At Carrion Point, we will discover the Galapagos marine fauna while snorkeling. We expect to observe white-tip sharks together with multiple fish species and sea turtles and rays during our trip.
After enjoying our journey at Carrion, we will have a succulent lunch onboard.
South Plazas Island
South Plazas Island exists as a separate island to the east of Santa Cruz Island. Plazas has an incredible landscape, and on our arrival, we will have a dry landing while sea lions welcome us at the shore.
Our route will start with a walk through the Opuntia Cactus forest. The natural surroundings will not interfere with our ability to notice where we stand. There are many land iguanas, the smallest species in the archipelago!
The next stop on our route will be the amazing cliff which has strong winds. The observation point provides views of red-billed tropical birds and swallow-tailed gulls and brown pelicans and frigate birds which often soar in the area. The trail continues along the ridge edge for several hundred meters.
The expedition will lead us to the famous "single sea lion colony" where we will observe a diverse group of male sea lions who used to have territories but have since lost them. The climbers use natural rock steps to ascend the cliff wall according to the description.
Will you be able to spot some of the battle scars and shark bites that many of these lone sea lions have on their bodies?
