South Plazas
Our group will unite at the designated time to launch our expedition toward South Plazas Island. The place which everyone calls Plazas offers beautiful views and we will touch down on dry land while sea lions occupy the shoreline.
Our route will start by following a path which leads through a forest of Opuntia cacti. The scenery looks beautiful but we need to stay alert because the area contains numerous land iguanas which represent the smallest iguana species in the entire archipelago.
Our path leads us to the magnificent cliffs which stand before us. This location provides excellent opportunities to observe red-billed tropicbirds and swallow-tailed gulls and brown pelicans and frigatebirds soaring above. The path extends across the ridge for hundreds of meters while presenting stunning panorama views.
Our path will lead us to the well-known “bachelor sea lion colony” which consists of several male sea lions who lost their territories when they grew older. The majority of people in the group find it unexpected that some of them manage to reach the cliff tops through stone pathways. Will you be able to spot the battle scars and shark bites that some of these solitary sea lions carry on their bodies?
Carrion Point
Our lunch on the Galaxy Daily ship will lead to a snorkeling expedition which will reveal the stunning marine creatures of the Galapagos. The waters should reveal white-tip reef sharks and various fish species and sea turtles and rays during our lucky day.
Our journey will conclude at the Itabaca Channel where a bus will pick us up to Puerto Ayora's pier which serves as the final destination of our extraordinary day.
